An envoy arrives at the Headquarters of the KoP. She announces herself.

"Lady Desideratist Masterson, Baroness Wolverhampton. My only military designation is Knights of the Realm Prince's Own Unit, Yeoman Squire to Knight Commander Gregarious, and I served with the KoP divisions at the Battle of Birmingham. It is regarding that, and in my role as a member of the Royal Honours Authority, that I am here today. May I have audience with the Earl Marshall if he is present?"

The hard work that Desi has put in to getting recognition for the veterans of the Battle of Birmingham is nearing fruition, she thinks. Discussions with the Prince Regent have been fruitful, the medals are struck, the list prepared. But frustrated as ever with the slow movement of politics, Desi thinks that a social call would be a good thing on many levels, and also to raise awareness of the Royal Honours Authority would not be a bad thing. Dismounting from her horse Gaspode, she takes an indicated seat in a waiting area.

The tap on the door is gentle and after Lyds counters Enter! the aid peeks her head in, salutes and announces the arrival of a diplomatic agent then hands her brief notes.
Lyds' brow furrows. Walking into the hall, rounding the corner, she recognizes Desi.
Lydia stops and bows curtly but friendly, then salutes professionally.
Your Rt. Hon. Lady Masterson, Baroness of Wolverhampton, what a distinct pleasure to see you here.
May I assist you, please?
I am Lydia Morningstern-Melodos, KoP Public Relations.
Standing in for the Earl Marshall, at this moment Im afraid.
Not that anyone could, but until he gets here or receives your message.
We had spoken in the past, U and I.
You might remember?
Are you here with good news about the medals then, m'Lady?
Lydia hops back to at ease and gestures the aid standing by, to <aside> please go fetch a refreshment for the Baroness--
I'm sure your journey was long and weary.
We do have accomodations on a second floor of the castle for you to stretch out, relax and rest. Should you so require.
Lydia says with her most attentive smile.

Medals indeed. Just as well we could get an army together faster than the decorations for it, eh..."

Desi takes a seat.

"This little job has been like unravelling knitted yarn. What started out as a big mess is now nearly tidied out, and the knitting of the sock can begin in earnest. I have recently finished two terms as mayor, and the itch to be visiting people takes me again. So I thought I would drop in on the Earl Marshal. I had also been intending to pay a short visit to the Regent in Hereford; easier for me to come and find him, I think. I actually visited Hereford recently but I got a bit... distracted. I'll have to find HRH Algernon another time, I think.

To be honest, I've always been the one to be itching to be doing something... and they are very nice medals. Struck them myself. Smile

Desi ponders the drinks and then eventually pours herself some tea.

"Soon, soon. Although it has been soon for some time. Lists are made, but I believe that His Highness the Regent and the Earl Marshal want all to be perfect. But time marches on, and I would imagine within the month. Perhaps sooner."

Speaking of time and marching, Lydia addresses the Baroness with a smile,
Your Rt. Hon., if you would allow me an absence and will please excuse me for a few minutes.
I shall hail the Major General.
His office presides in the Tribunal part of the Stronghold.
Very few, and no aids or messengers, are allowed.
So I will have to deliver the message myself.
The scones should get here any minute.
Lydia rises and courteously salutes the Lady awaiting her approval.
As she reaches the end of the hallway to go to find the MG, all sorts of delicatessen are being presented the lady.

Fresh scones, finger sandwiches, creamy butter, the finest jams and bestest clotted cream are being catered to her on fine plate ware.

Greetings Lady Desideratist , your work on the Birmingham Campaign Medals are indeed exquisite . My heart immediately warmed when I viewed them for the first time a few days ago . How is the Regent these days .

Dwymilic Hightower seats himself , tops off the Baroness's tea before pouring himself a cup .

The doors flung wide, Collen enters, yet beckons his soldiers to remain just outside. Spying the Lady Desideratist, the knight flashes a familiar smile, warmly greeting a soldier and noblewoman who fought for England in days not so long past.

Scant sign of ease passed into the general’s steady voice as he intoned, “Greetings milady and welcome,” yet the grin betrayed his easy acceptance of a soldier long trusted. “The Knight, Lady Lydia sent word of your arrival.”

As soon as Cor hears from Seargent Major Lydia, he hurries out the door. Stopping, he turns, are you coming seargent? Hurrying on down the hall, Correus stops and checks his uniform. Opening the door, he steps in. General Collen Sir, Cor Salutes, then walks over to Desideratist, and bows. Welcome M'Lady.

Desi is pleased to see her friends trickling in. Only the most senior ones at the moment. Hopefully others will arrive. Perhaps they are on manoeuvres or some such?

Stepping up into the offices, CPL McMannanan had just enough time to drop off some reports before heading back to his own offices.

He knocks on the door and then enters.

Upon seeing a Lady in some unknown uniform and a couple of Generals in the room, he comes to attention.

Beg pardon Sirs, m'Lady. I were jus' leavin' these r'ports fer ye, General Correus. I...

Upon recognizing the Lady Desi, he stops and slowly begins a blush...

Averting his eyes downward a bit, he continues his message to the General,

I be hopin' tha' ye'll hae all th' information ye be needin' therre. If'n ye hae need o' me, I can be reach'd in me office either in Worcester Castle or in Hereford... I... I mus' be gittin' back tho'...

Just seeing her there, his heart starts to flutter a bit, his pulse quickening... It had been some time since they last saw one another... He hadn't stopped thinking of her. He wondered if she was still thinking the same of him. This appeared to be an officer's function, he really should leave...

Coming back to attention, he nods and waits to be dismissed...

Desi smiles at him. What a situation for an enlisted man to find himself in. Ah well, if the likes of Collen and Kathryn, Tressa and Derwydden, Elson and Tasite manage...she gives McMannanan a surreptitious wink.

"Ah.... Corporal. Don't let my presence dissuade you from doing your duty, if you have business with those here present. I am Yeoman Desideratist of the Knights of the Realm, Squire to Knight Commander Gregarious, although I am visiting today on behalf of the Royal Honours Authority. "

She's not sure if a Yeoman Squire of the Knights of the Realm outranks a Corporal of the Knights of the Phoenix. She can't resist a tease...

"Smartly turned out man you have here, Sirs and Ma'am. Credit to you, no doubt."

She had heard that he'd fallen down the stairs at the last big event the KoP had had. He does have a tendency to get "distracted" after alcohol, something Desi actually finds rather endearing...
