Desi smiles into her teacup. Judging from the colour of him, he's having great difficulty coming to terms with the situation he's found himself in. Luckily for her she's the guest in this place, so somewhat immune. Had he been in Rose Castle and she'd walked in with papers for the Knight Commander she'd probably have been beside herself with anxiety too... she longed to tell him to relax, but it was not her place.

She just smiled, tried to give the impression that she was very glad to have bumped into him, although perhaps she might have preferred to bump into him somewhere less... formal... Twisted Evil

After waiting some time for the Generals to dismiss the poor man, and watching him get redder and redder, Desi can't watch McMannanan suffer any longer.

"Ah, Sirs, I see you're very busy with this paperwork the Corporal has brought you... I'll just get out of your way a moment and help him clear away these dishes, if you don't mind me seconding him... I'm sure he can show me round while you're busy. I'd hate to be interrupting anything.

Come along now Corporal, lets leave the Generals to their business. I'm sure they won't mind me borrowing you for a while..."

And with that, Desi picks up the teacups and plates, and with a nudge to McMannanan, leaves the room.

"Come on, come on. They're miles away. Busy men. Probably won't even notice we've gone... where's the kitchen? You wash, I'll dry...

Everyone else except me has more important things to do than give out medals. Oh well... NEA is more important than RHA, I suppose. In the grand scheme of things."

They find a kitchen, nod to the cook and then put the dishes down. Desi takes the opportunity of being hidden behind McMannanan to give his hand a quick squeeze.

"I didn't think you'd be here..."

Ever so grateful for her quick thinking, he breathes a huge sigh of relief as they make their way to one of the kitchens. His color slowly begins to return to normal...

She giggles, and flicks him with the cloth she is drying up with. She leans against him as he washes. Shooting a sly look at the cook to make sure he is busy at something else, she runs her hand up McMannanan's wet arm.

"Heh slow down... run out of dishes and they'll give you something else to do.

Thank you for all the letters. I only regret I was kept at Caverswall so long... I was fighting the urge to come to Hereford all the time. "

Snuggling close to his damp arm, she is getting a bit soapy wet. Looking down at her damp uniform, she feels the need for a cover story, and drops a plate in the water, splashing all over them.

"Oops.... butterfingers. Stupid cook, hasn't he got anything else to do?"

In some ways she wishes this particular Corporal hadn't been here. He's always so... distracting. Seeing the cook move to another part of the room to stir a pot of stew, she steals the opportunity for a brief, soapy kiss.

The sudden soaking shocked him a bit... the quick kiss catching him unawares... as she broke it, his head followed, not wanting to lose the contact he so desired...

Looking at her face, he started to chuckle... She'd gotten soap on her nose. Pulling his arms out of the sink and drying them off, he took his hand and gently lifted the suds off her face... she was so bonnie, so full of life...

Gods, he'd missed her so much... Seeing the cook head off to the pantries, he grabbed her and pulled her close to him. Looking into her eyes, he felt his worries melt away for the moment. He bent down and gave her a proper kiss, pouring his feelings into it. Only the sound of the cook returning caused him to let go... He gave her a smile, before saying,

Ye think they be missin' ye yet??? They d'nae know wha' they be missin'... Love, I hate this, but I do hae t' git back... much as I be wantin' t' bring ye wit' me... Write me 'gin, when ye can... I'll be waitin'...

He holds her hands for a minute, looking into her eyes... His desires all but letting him leave right now... Nodding with his head, they start walking, slowly, back to the General's offices... He'd love to take her right past them and to the stables, but isn't sure just how wise or lucky that would be...

She was just as guilty as he was of hotheadedness, but they did indeed have to get back. Coming to see Generals, getting some in the room and then disappearing for a few hours? No, not done.

"The Gods keep doing this to us, don’t they. I can just see them laughing… I changed the Oath a little, when I swore to the National English Army. I hope Correus doesn’t mind. I doubt he will. Followers of Gods and Goddesses, whatever they’re called, fight for their homes and lives as well as any other. Let them call him Jah if they wish, but I could not leave the Queen out of it. I doubt she’d have liked it. Passionate piece, so she is.”

She gives herself one last check and her eyes widen to see two large, soapy wet handprints on her bottom. A slight blush and a giggle, and she reminds herself not to turn her back to any Generals. Coming back into the room they were in before, she sits down hurriedly.

“Thank you Corporal, so kind…”

After some time spent twiddling her thumbs, Desi watches the sun beginning to set...

"Ah well, I really must be going. I can see you're a bit busy right now... you know where you can find me. I believe that the Royal Honours Authority offices near completion - you can find me there, no doubt."

And with that, Desi finds her horse Gaspode, and with a final wink to McMannanan, heads off back to Caverswall.
