It's unsettling...maybe some law against it? 
She doesnt know whether to smile back or frown at him.
She had seen him like this before...with others...some nights...she'd watch him...from afar.
Just for something to do...
Lydia smiles reminiscingly.
Right after the war, he'd be out with the boys, his soldiers...platoon leaders...
Could have had several girls dangling from each arm, and very capable of carrying them all, but...chose not to.
Would always politely decline...
It made her smile then, as she sat quietly in a corner or sometimes with others.
She wonders if he ever noticed her?
Surely not, bcoz he was and is in love with someone else.
But, he had been attentive from the moment he'd decided to come to her, one early Sunday morning way back in the Fall of 1455.
As attentive as one of exceptionality would be.
From experience she can't consider herself like any other girl in all of England and a few good men (and bad boys--she smirks) with broken hearts and wounded Pride, can attest to that. But then again...behind every good woman...
He breaks her introversion by handing her the reigns, then sure handedly aiding her into the parade saddle.
Lydia's stern, contemplative visage turns slowly, very slowly, into a really bright smile as she overhears the war lord's comment to her horse. She marvels at his cleverness as she leans her body and reigns her horse right to begin the formation.
She rode strong, proud and erect and, of course yes, left of the Lord, swaying in rythym with every move of the horse under the saddle.

My blood, my Lord? She sees him, eager, wonderful, and says not her thoughts. A sweet, sweet smile lifts the corners of her mouth tho. She nods agreeably and humbly because she remembers. But mainly because of his constant selfless demeanor toward all good. He'd help anyone in need. Regardless of their station or anyone's concerns about them. He is chivalrous to the marrow. She holds that in such high regard. Suddenly she searches the crowd from atop her horse. Her mind had strayed, remembering yet another. One other who never hesitated. But who may have felt betrayed and mistreated by her. The frown is long and deep. She cant find him. She's sure he does not wish to encounter her as it is. Then again, some people just should not be together. There is passion and then there is lightning and friction.
Her gaze strays back to Collen. Man almighty whom she admires so very much.

| At a word from the general, four sections of cavalry from the 7th Division of the National English Army rode forth, on parade before their prince. A walk gave way to a trot, and the troops were off to assemble before His Royal Highness, Prince Algernon. Commands of “Left,” flowed into that of “Wheel!” And the glittering line of mounted knights rushed by four abreast. Before the Prince, the honor guard was ordered to a walk and then full halt. By command of the Lady Lydia, the company presented swords in salute to his Royal Highness, Prince Algernon.
General, the Earl Dorchester and Bridgnorth, rode before his Royal Highness, saluted with his own blade, and turned his spirited warhorse to the assemblage of his brother and sister knights as to shout, “ONE LAND, ONE KING!” A moment’s pause, and then Collen continued, “For long and long did England struggle apart, perhaps coming together in greatest need, perhaps each county making its way as best a single place could. That day ends if we play our promised part! The Knights of the Phoenix, ever first in defense, The Sword and Shield of England, must continue in our brave nation’s future.”
Here, the knight paused, searching the assembled knights for those proven fighters whose valor he had witnessed firsthand, “Long ago, leaders of all armies and militias gathered, dreaming of a unity that would defend the beleaguered People of England. His Royal Highness, Prince Algernon, has made this dream come to pass, if we will but reach out and grasp a better future for our loved ones!”
Standing in his stirrups, Sir Coll exclaimed, “The Knights of the Phoenix have given our word to join the National English Army. Recently, I commissioned the APr office to poll your worthy ranks, and the Lady Lydia performed this task. Many Knights have requested to enter as a single militia division, and generals from our ranks have undertaken the task. His Royal Highness Algernon is here! Let us outshine all others in our devotion to the land we love!”
The knight gave a final roar, “For ENGLAND!”
Then, he wheeled his stallion to face his Royal Highness, saluted the worthy prince of men, and turned to the Lady Lydia, smiling once more to say, “The Division is yours on Parade lady, lead them out.”
